Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode posttype attribute
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Stored XSS in Simple Yearly Archive 2.2.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the posttype shortcode attribute. The SimpleYearlyArchive shortcode handler accepts the posttype attribute without sufficient sanitization and emits it into generated archive markup without output escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient to store the payload in a post or page, and the script runs in the browser of each user who opens the injected content.
