Kernel memory corruption via reserved-region bounds error
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
A heap buffer overflow in Linux kernel 6.9 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory via an SEV-SNP reserved-memory layout. snp_filter_reserved_mem_regions() checks only previously stored entries, then writes base and page_count for a 256th entry beyond its PAGE_SIZE allocation. Reachability requires an AMD SEV-SNP host and enough reserved-memory regions; resulting kernel memory corruption can crash the host or expose and alter protected data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
