CVE-2026-74392

Local denial of service via unbounded bio polling

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Denial of service in Linux kernel 6.19 through 7.1.4 allows local users to stall a CPU via io_uring IOPOLL on a dm-stripe target. The dm_poll_bio() callback forwards spinning-poll flags unchanged to a mapped clone, causing blk_mq_poll() to spin before io_uring can reschedule. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an io_uring IOPOLL workload on a dm-stripe device; the bounded impact is an RCU CPU stall.
