CVE-2026-74374Network attack vector

System deadlock via misclassified RAID error allocations

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Deadlock in Linux kernel md/raid1 and md/raid10 from 4.12 allows attackers to hang RAID I/O via failed, split read requests. After a failed bio is split and resubmitted, the error path trusts r1_bio or r10_bio->read_slot even though those markers can be NULL or -1, so clone allocations use GFP_NOIO without __GFP_HIGH. Triggering the hang requires RAID1 or RAID10, a mirror read failure, split resubmission, and concurrent memory pressure; the bounded consequence is stalled I/O on the md device.
