CVE-2026-74373

Local denial of service via split-bio misaccounting

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Incorrect I/O accounting in Linux kernel 6.6 md/raid1 and raid10 allows local users to destabilize systems through failed split bios. The error path resubmits a failed split bio but uses r1bio_existed or io_accounting instead of md_cloned_bio(), causing duplicate or missing accounting. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and failed I/O on an affected RAID1 or RAID10 array; the bounded consequence is resource exhaustion or a crash.
