System crash via prematurely released file-handler module
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
A use-after-free in Linux kernel liveupdate 7.1 allows local users to crash the system during preserved-file teardown. luo_file_unpreserve_files() and luo_file_finish() call module_put() before xa_erase(), although xa_erase() invokes luo_get_id() and dereferences the released handler module's operations. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and the liveupdate preserved-file cleanup path; the published impact is a system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
