Local kernel compromise via premature page destruction
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux kernel 6.19 allows local users to compromise the kernel through concurrent iommufd and dma-buf teardown. iopt_release_pages() destroys the pages mutex and frees iopt_pages before dma-buf invalidation callbacks finish detaching and can still lock that mutex. Access to /dev/iommu or /dev/vfio/vfio and a compatible dma-buf is required; the race enables memory access or corruption and a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
