Kernel crash via unchecked non-serdev Bluetooth pointer
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 7.0 allows attackers to crash the kernel via a non-serdev QCA Bluetooth controller. In drivers/bluetooth/hci_qca.c, qca_setup() passes the NULL hu->serdev pointer to serdev_device_get_drvdata() and dereferences the returned driver data without checking the attachment path. The failure occurs during controller setup only when hci_uart uses a non-serdev path; the published record establishes a crash but no data access or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
