CVE-2026-74275

System instability via negative CXL target index

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in the Linux kernel 7.1 CXL region driver allows local users to crash or destabilize the system. cxl_cancel_auto_attach() uses cxled->pos directly as a p->targets[] index even when cxl_region_sort_targets() stored a negative error value there. Reaching the flaw requires local access and a CXL configuration that exercises failed interleave-position calculation during automatic attachment.
