Unauthenticated billing-event forgery via unsigned webhooks
Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026
Improper signature verification in Red Hat Quay billing allows remote attackers to forge Stripe events via crafted JSON requests. The /webhooks/stripe handler parses attacker-controlled event JSON and applies billing-event effects without validating the Stripe-Signature header. The endpoint remains exposed even when billing is disabled; successful requests reset a namespace build quota to its maximum and send unsolicited administrator email, while FakeStripe limits self-hosted impact.
