CVE-2026-74243Network attack vector

Unauthenticated denial of service via scanner notifications

Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026

Missing authentication in Red Hat Quay allows remote attackers to exhaust workers through security-scanner notification requests. When SECURITY_SCANNER_V4_PSK is unset, the POST notification handler accepts unauthenticated input, queues attacker-controlled notifications, and embeds path traversal characters in Clair API URL paths. Standalone deployments with the key omitted are exposed; operator-managed deployments generate the key, while Red Hat lists OpenShift Update Service without describing a distinct path.
