Memory corruption via signed NFS READ length
Published Sep 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026
Buffer overflow in U-Boot before 2026.10-rc5 allows remote attackers to corrupt bootloader memory through crafted NFS READ replies. In net/nfs-common.c, nfs_read_reply() checks a server-supplied length as a signed integer, then passes it to store_block() as an unsigned copy length, allowing an oversized copy past the reply and image buffers. Exploitation requires the bootloader to fetch an image through its NFS client from an attacker-controlled server; the resulting memory corruption can crash the bootloader.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
