Detection outage via undersized FIM alert buffer
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Heap overflow in Wazuh manager before 4.14.8 allows remote authenticated users to crash wazuh-analysisd via crafted FIM events. In fim_generate_alert(), full_log is allocated from the input length, but snprintf uses OS_MAXSTR as its bound, allowing generated alert text to exceed the allocation. An enrolled agent can send the crafted syscheck event, corrupting manager heap memory and interrupting detection across the managed fleet.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
