Root code execution via unchecked configuration overwrite
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
File overwrite in Wazuh manager before 4.14.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute root commands through cluster synchronization. MasterHandler.process_files_from_worker checks raw basenames before path normalization and omits extra_valid enforcement, permitting overwrites of ossec.conf and agent.conf. Attackers must control a worker and hold the shared cluster key; malicious configuration executes on manager reload and propagates to enrolled agents.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
