Root command execution via path-based policy trust
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
SCA trust bypass in Wazuh agent before 4.14.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through manager-supplied policies. In affected releases starting at 4.3.0, wmodules-sca.c classifies policies outside etc/shared as trusted, including unsigned files uploaded to var/incoming through the upgrade channel. Manager control is required; referencing these files in shared configuration bypasses the default sca.remote_commands=0 gate and executes their command checks as root.
