Memory exhaustion via unchecked SCA YAML alias expansion
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Memory exhaustion in Wazuh agent SCA before 4.14.8 allows remote authenticated users to crash wazuh-modulesd via manager-pushed YAML. The yaml2json_node converter repeatedly allocates fresh JSON subtrees for referenced aliases without limiting expansion, turning a small policy into excessive memory use. Attackers must control the manager and deliver an enabled policy; parsing precedes rule evaluation, so sca.remote_commands restrictions do not prevent the agent-group denial of service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
