Site takeover via unauthenticated reinstallation
Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026
Missing authentication in install.php in emlog 2.6.26 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over sites via reinstallation. The reinstall action bypasses the installed-system guard, accepts attacker-supplied database and administrator fields, overwrites config.php, and creates a new administrator account. Remote reachability of install.php is sufficient to replace the site database configuration and obtain administrative control without credentials or user interaction.
