Host-root execution via unsanitized workflow container options
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
Docker isolation bypass in Gitea Runner allows remote authenticated users to execute host commands via workflow container options. The mergeContainerConfigs() path converts workflow-controlled options into Docker HostConfig, retaining host namespaces, added capabilities, and security overrides while forcing only Privileged to false. Exploitation requires permission to submit workflows to a Docker-backed runner and grants root execution on the Docker host despite disabled privileged mode.
