Application hang via zero-length UDS fields
Published Apr 30, 2026 · Updated Apr 30, 2026
Infinite-loop flaw in the UDS dissector in Wireshark 4.4.0 through 4.4.14 and 4.6.0 through 4.6.4 allows attackers to hang the application. Within dissect_uds_internal(), a 0x00 addressAndLengthFormatIdentifier yields zero-length address and size fields, so the DDDI loop never advances its offset. A crafted live UDS packet or an opened capture file triggers the deterministic hang and consumes one CPU core, without memory corruption or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.4.0 <4.4.15
