Authenticated user impersonation via missing proxy ACI check
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Authorization bypass in Open Identity Platform OpenDJ before 5.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate non-root directory users. PlainSASLMechanismHandler accepts a SASL PLAIN authzid after checking PROXIED_AUTH but omits the mayProxy ACI scope check for the target identity. An account holding PROXIED_AUTH can therefore read or modify data as any resolvable non-root user outside its granted proxy scope; root and Directory Manager identities remain excluded.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
