Denial of service via Digest state use-after-free
Published Oct 1, 2026 · Updated Oct 1, 2026
Use-after-free in Apache HTTP Server mod_auth_digest 2.4.0 through 2.4.68 allows remote attackers to corrupt Digest authentication state. Concurrent Digest authentication requests access authentication state after it has been freed, disrupting the module's state handling. The attack requires Digest authentication with AuthDigestNcCheck enabled or AuthDigestNonceLifetime set to 0; Apache reports denial of service without specifying a crash mode.
