Denial of service via unbounded JSON body read
Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in the Apache Struts JSON plugin allows remote attackers to exhaust server memory with one request. The plugin reads an enabled JSON request body fully into heap memory before its configurable JSON input length limit can constrain the read. Only applications that install the optional plugin and enable JSON request-body population are exposed, and exhaustion denies service to other users.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=2.1.8 <=2.3.37
- Affected versionversion=2.5.0 <=2.5.33
- Affected versionversion=6.0.0 <=6.10.0
