CVE-2026-73624Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated file overwrite via unchecked diff options

Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026

Argument injection in GitPython before 3.1.54 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite files through Diffable.diff. Diffable.diff forwards kwargs to git diff without check_unsafe_options and inserts the caller-controlled other value before the option separator, so --output selects an attacker-chosen path. Exploitation requires an embedding application to pass attacker-controlled diff arguments; Git writes patch content with the application's filesystem privileges.
