Authenticated file deletion via symlink ancestor swap
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Link-following in File Browser 2.57.0 through 2.63.18 allows remote authenticated users to delete out-of-scope files via TUS uploads. The in-memory cache stores an upload's lexical absolute path, then passes that stale path to raw os.Remove after TTL expiry without repeating ScopedFs validation. Exploitation requires Create permission, the default cache, and an out-of-band ancestor swap within three minutes; deletion can remove tenant data or the application database.
