Authorization bypass via inconsistent path canonicalization
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Incorrect authorization in affected Envoy releases allows remote attackers to bypass path-based RBAC via semicolon path parameters. The router strips each semicolon suffix before route matching, while the RBAC url_path matcher evaluates the raw path and misses the corresponding DENY rule. Exposure requires ignore_path_parameters_in_path_matching, a path-based RBAC rule, and a protected route that matches after stripping; successful requests reach that protected backend and inherit its available data and actions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
