Cross-origin data disclosure via MHTML race
Published Apr 28, 2026 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Race condition in MHTML in Google Chrome before 147.0.7727.138 allows remote attackers to leak cross-origin data through a crafted extension. A TOCTOU flaw in MHTMLGenerationManager lets a BFCache race switch the archived page after access is checked; the extension then reads the resulting MHTML file to access chrome://settings DOM. Exploitation requires a user to install the malicious extension, and the reported consequence is data disclosure without integrity or availability impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
