Arbitrary file read via unchecked attachment path
Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026
Path traversal in MCP Atlassian before 0.22.0 allows remote authenticated users to read server files through a Confluence upload. The confluence_upload_attachment tool passes client-supplied file_path to open() in _upload_attachment_direct() without validate_safe_path. Direct use requires MCP access, while an agent induced by untrusted content can upload any file readable by the server process, including credentials.
