Script execution via unrestricted SVG href references
Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Loofah before 2.25.2 allows remote attackers to execute script through sanitized user-supplied SVG content. The HTML5 sanitizer checks xlink:href but not the equivalent plain href attribute on SVG use and feImage elements, leaving external references intact. Exploitation requires the default SVG allowlist and user rendering; same-origin use can run referenced script, while feImage can track viewers.
