Gateway takeover via VRRPv2 authentication bypass
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Authentication bypass in Arista EOS allows remote attackers on the same layer 2 segment to claim the VRRP virtual router master role. Arista has not disclosed the exact verification error in the VRRPv2 IP-AH authentication implementation. Exposure requires VRRPv2 IP-AH authentication on an interface; successful takeover enables interception, modification, or discarding of virtual-gateway traffic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
