Remote image allowlist bypass via unescaped path regex

Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026

Allowlist bypass in Astro's Netlify adapter before 8.1.2 allows remote attackers to optimize excluded images on an allowed host. The remotePatternToRegex() function inserts literal pathname values into Netlify allowlist regexes without escaping regular expression metacharacters. Exploitation requires a configured pathname containing such characters and a target image at an adjacent excluded path on the same allowed host.
