Reflected XSS via unescaped transition animation values
Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Astro 2.9.0 through 7.0.9 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript via crafted transition values. The server-side View Transition generator passes serialized animation properties into a raw style element without CSS or HTML escaping, so a duration value can close the element and inject markup. Exploitation requires a server-rendered route to place attacker-controlled data in an animation definition and grants access to page data and victim-authorized actions.
