CVE-2026-73412Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Filesystem path disclosure via unescaped Zsh metacharacters

Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026

OS command injection in Shescape before 2.1.14 and Shescape 3.0.0 allows remote attackers to disclose filesystem paths through Zsh. The Zsh escape function fails to neutralize tilde, caret, and hash metacharacters, so escape and escapeAll outputs still trigger home expansion and extended-glob matching. Exposure requires a Unix host using Zsh explicitly, or as the default shell with shell set to true; MAGIC_EQUAL_SUBST or EXTENDED_GLOB broadens path and directory disclosure.
