Manager-to-owner escalation via custom-role slug collision
Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026
Privilege escalation in Semaphore before 2.18.19 and 2.19.0-alpha3 through 2.19.5-beta4 allows remote authenticated users to gain owner access. ProjectMiddleware replaces built-in manager permissions with a database role returned by GetProjectOrGlobalRoleBySlug, while role creation accepts the reserved manager slug and permission bitmask 15. Custom project roles and project-manager membership are required; successful exploitation permits project changes, user management, and project deletion.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
