Device hang via unverified DMA addresses
Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026
Missing authorization in Caliptra Core Runtime Firmware 2.1.0 allows local users to hang the device through crafted mailbox commands. Subsystem-mode handlers for INVOKE_DPE_MLDSA87, CM_AES_GCM_DECRYPT_DMA, and EXTERNAL_MAILBOX_CMD accept caller-supplied AXI addresses without validation before DMA reads or writes. Privileged access to the local mailbox and subsystem mode is required; invalid addresses hang Caliptra, while other effects depend on integration-specific AXI reachability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
