CVE-2026-73270Network attack vector

Unauthenticated file disclosure via case-sensitive path matching

Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 1, 2026

Authentication bypass in Erlang/OTP inets httpd allows remote attackers to read mod_auth-protected files through case-varied URLs. The mod_auth:secret_path/3 routine performs a case-sensitive re:run/3 comparison against the configured directory, while mod_get resolves and serves the same differently cased path. Exploitation requires a mod_auth-protected directory on a case-insensitive filesystem; it discloses file contents without credentials but does not alter files or interrupt the service.
