Authenticated command execution via unchecked kubeconfig cmd-path
Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026
Command injection in Prowler before 5.36.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands on shared workers. The kubeconfig validator checks only exec blocks, so a legacy gcp auth-provider cmd-path reaches kubernetes-python and is passed to subprocess.Popen during a provider connection test. Default self-registration supplies the required tenant access, and successful execution runs as the prowler user within the multi-tenant worker.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
