File read and SSRF via unhardened XML parser
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
XXE in FreeCAD before 1.1.2 allows attackers to read local files or issue HTTP requests when a user opens a crafted .FCStd file. The SAX2 XMLReader in src/Base/Reader.cpp parses Document.xml without disabling external entity resolution or external DTD loading. Opening the archive is required; resolved file content can reach the parser callback, while HTTP entities can contact services reachable from the workstation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
