Process crash via inherited custom-statistics keys
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Prototype pollution in Browserslist before 4.28.7 allows attackers to crash invoking processes through crafted custom statistics. normalizeStats() iterates untrusted browserslist-stats.json, opts.stats, or --stats keys with for...in, then reads and writes plain objects without own-property checks. Reachability requires control of a statistics file in the project directory tree or influence over programmatic statistics data; a matching inherited key triggers an uncaught TypeError on the next Browserslist call.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
