Service interrupt via lazy-sequence LoopLimit bypass

Published Aug 16, 2026 · Updated Aug 16, 2026

Denial of service in Scriban 3.0.0 through 7.2.5 allows attackers to interrupt service via crafted template array multiplication. In ScriptRange.Multiply, lazy sequences returned by array.map and similar builtins route multiplication through MultiplyImpl, which charges LoopLimit only when elements are emitted and never pre-checks the attacker-controlled repetition count. Applications that let attackers supply Scriban templates are affected even when LoopLimit is set to 1; one small template can pin a CPU core and drive heavy garbage collection until rendering completes.
