Host code execution via unsanitized document icons

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Stored cross-site scripting in SiYuan before 3.7.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute host commands via crafted document icons. The unicode2Emoji codepoint branch converts attacker-controlled hex values with String.fromCodePoint, returns the resulting markup without sanitization, and feeds it to innerHTML sinks. Execution requires a crafted icon to reach a document that a user opens or expands; Node integration in the desktop renderer then exposes host command execution.
