Protected-notebook disclosure via unthrottled password guessing

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Improper authentication-attempt restriction in SiYuan before 3.7.4 allows remote attackers to read protected published notebooks. authFilePublishAccess compares a supplied plaintext password with a notebook's stored publish password and permits unlimited guesses without throttling, lockout, or CAPTCHA. The attack requires a password-protected Publish notebook; a successful guess sets a 24-hour cookie for that notebook but grants no broader workspace access.
