Stored XSS via unsafe SQL autocomplete rendering
Published Jun 2, 2026 · Updated Jun 2, 2026
Stored XSS in Appsmith before 2.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in other workspace members’ sessions via database object names. The SQL hint renderer assigns unsanitized table and column names to innerHTML, causing the browser to parse stored names as executable markup. Exploitation requires Developer access, DDL rights on a shared PostgreSQL datasource, and another member to trigger autocomplete; resulting script access can hijack that member’s session.
