CVE-2026-72924

Forwarded-service exposure via wildcard listener binding

Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Improper network exposure in GitHub CLI 2.28.0 through 2.97.0 allows attackers to access forwarded Codespace services. The gh codespace ports forward command creates its local TCP listener on the wildcard address instead of loopback, accepting connections through every interface. The command must be actively forwarding a port, and the attacker must be able to route traffic to the host; exposed-service access can reveal data or invoke unauthenticated state-changing operations.
