Unauthenticated S3 administration via exposed IAM RPCs
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Missing authentication in the SeaweedFS filer before 4.24 allows remote attackers to gain S3 administrative control through IAM gRPC. The filer registers SeaweedIdentityAccessManagement without an authentication interceptor, exposing CreateUser, CreateAccessKey, and PutUserPolicy. Any client that can reach the filer gRPC port can mint credentials and administer stored objects; configured JWT keys or mesh certificates do not constrain these RPCs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
