Unauthenticated administrator access via unrestricted registration roles
Published May 20, 2026 · Updated May 20, 2026
Privilege escalation in ThemeWant Easy Elements for Elementor 1.4.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain WordPress administrator access. The easyel_handle_register function accepts a user-supplied registration role without restricting it to nonprivileged roles, so an administrator value reaches account creation. No authentication or user interaction is required; exposure depends on the plugin's registration form being reachable, and exploitation creates a site administrator account.
