CVE-2026-72836Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-account file access via case-sensitive scope lookup

Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026

Improper case handling in File Browser before 2.63.19 allows remote attackers to read, overwrite, and delete another account's files. The signup handler preserves username case, while GetByScope compares derived home-directory scopes as exact strings although NTFS resolves case variants to one directory. Signup and CreateUserDir must be enabled with a case-insensitive Windows root; no existing account or victim interaction is required.
