Theoretical path traversal via post-validation normalization
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Path traversal in Craft CMS 4.0.0-RC1 through 4.18.1 and 5.0.0-RC1 through 5.10.5 creates a theoretical route outside a local volume. Local::ensurePathIsContained validates a file path before normalizing it, allowing normalization to invalidate the containment assumptions used to construct the final disk path. The vendor reports that the condition is not directly exploitable and that no exploitable scenario has been discovered.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.0.0-RC1 <4.18.2
