Arbitrary file write via format injection
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Arbitrary file write in the n8n Edit Image node before 1.123.67, 2.31.5, and 2.32.1 allows remote authenticated users to escape its workspace. The node forwards a crafted output format to its image library without validation, allowing the value to select a path outside the working directory. Workflow execution access is required, and exploitation writes attacker-selected bytes within the n8n process's filesystem permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
