Unauthenticated session access via RDSTLS PDU confusion
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Authentication bypass in FreeRDP before 3.30.0 allows remote attackers to enter RDSTLS server sessions without credentials. At the authentication step, rdstls_recv() accepts an attacker-selected Capabilities PDU instead of AUTHREQ while the zero-initialized resultCode remains RDSTLS_RESULT_SUCCESS. Reachability requires a server or proxy with non-default RdstlsSecurity enabled; the connection advances as authenticated to MCS without checking a password, redirection GUID, or auto-reconnect cookie.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
