HTML injection via cooked-attribute reparsing
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
HTML injection in PrettyText.format_for_email in affected Discourse releases allows remote authenticated users to alter generated email markup. The formatter reparses decoded Vimeo, secure-upload, dimension, and hashtag attribute values as HTML and insufficiently checks Vimeo hosts and paths. A forum account able to submit affected post content is required; the flaw changes email markup but does not interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
